South Dakota State scored early and often in a 95-70 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Tuesday in front of 1,009 Frost Arena faithful who braved the cold and snow outside to witness the win. The 95 points scored by SDSU marks the highest Jackrabbit point total since Nov. 7, 2003, when the Jacks hung 97 on Philadelphia in the 2003-04 season-opener.

The Jacks improve to 4-5 with the win, while SMSU falls to 4-2.

Garrett Callahan scored a personal and team season-high 27 points in the win on 8-of-10 shooting to lead four Jackrabbits in double figures. Kai Williams added 16 points, Tony Fiegen added 11 points and Clint Sargent 10, including a 4-for-4 night at the free throw line.

Scott Roehl led the Mustangs with 22 points, Jordan Miller and Andrew Peschong both added 12 points in a losing cause.

SMSU scored the first two points of the game, but SDSU answered with a 10-0 run and then continued to build its lead to as high as 19 points in the first half before taking a 13 point, 41-28 lead into the lockerroom.

The Jacks increased their lead a game-high 28 points in the second half before eventually winning by 25.

The Jackrabbits return to action on Saturday, when they travel to the biggest little city in the world, Reno, Nev., to take on Nevada.

The Jacks and Wolf Pack get things started at 7 p.m. PT, 9 p.m. CT.
