South Dakota State snapped its five game losing streak with
its first-ever Summit League road win last Saturday at Western Illinois, and
then started its second winning streak of the season wit a 95-70 win over Southwest
Minnesota State on Tuesday at Frost Arena.
Garrett Callahan scored a personal and team season-high 27
points in the win over SMSU on 8-of-10 shooting to lead four Jackrabbits in
double figures. Kai Williams added 16 points, Tony Fiegen added 11 points and
Clint Sargent 10.
SMSU scored the first two points of the game, but SDSU
answered with a 10-0 run and then continued to build its lead to as high as 19
points in the first half before taking a 13 point, 41-28 lead into the
lockerroom.
The Jacks increased their lead a game-high 28 points in the
second half before eventually reaching the final 25-point margin.
The Jacks now turn their attention to Nevada, who also
played and won at home on Tuesday against a lower level team, as the Wolf Pack
downed Fresno-Pacific 89-67.
Callahan leads the Jackrabbit offense through nine games
with a 12.9 points per game average, Clint Sargent adds 10.6 points per game,
which includes a team-best .524 three-point and .864 free throw percentage.
Anthony Cordova averages 10.1 points and a team-high 5.0 rebounds per game and
