Krsnak earns weekly Summit League honor
Michael Krsnak captures the Summit League Athlete of the Week after winning the Oz Memorial, hosted by Minnesota, Sept. 10 and leading the South Dakota State men's cross country team to a second-place finish.
Krsnak's first-place time of 19 minutes 13.82 seconds in the men's 6K marks his second-straight title after finishing first at the season-opening Ron Pynn Invitational Sept. 4.
"This is a nice honor for Michael as he ran a very solid, controlled race Friday," said head coach Rod DeHaven. "He put in a tremendous amount of summer work and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out."
The award marks Krsnak's first cross country Athlete of Week honor and his second overall. He was named the men's track and field Athlete of the Week April 20 for his time of 30:02.47 in the 10,000-meter run. The time, which is fourth best in SDSU history, was the leading time in the Summit League and ranked 70th nationally for the week.
The Jackrabbits continue the cross country season Saturday at the Dakota State Invitational in Madison, S.D. The meet is scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m.
