ELMHURST, Ill. - The Summit League named
South Dakota State women's tennis player Bryna Nasenbeny its Player of the Week on Tuesday after her performance at the Orlando Classic.
Nasenbeny earns her first career
award after collecting four singles victories and three doubles wins in Florida.
Playing the No. 3 singles position, Nasenbeny scored a trio of
straight-set victories over opponents from Mount St. Mary's (Kelly Conroy, 6-4,
6-1), St. Joseph's (Maggie Mullaney, 6-4, 6-2) and Indianapolis (Meghan Teums,
6-1, 6-1) and added a win over Bucknell's Elena Vidrascu (6-2, 3-6, 10-6).
In
doubles play, Nasenbeny teamed for wins over St. Joseph's Walsh/Dowd (8-2),
Florida A&M's Gomez/Holt (8-4) and Indianapolis' Barger/Teums (8-4).
Nasenbeny improved her season singles record to 5-4.
The Jackrabbit women return to the court at the end of the month as they begin Summit League play on March 31 vs. Oakland in Kansas City.
