Fiegen named Summit League Player of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - South Dakota State middle blocker, and reining Summit League Player of the Year, Kelli Fiegen earns her third career offensive player of the week selection after helping the Jackrabbits post a 3-2 record last week and being named to her third all-tournament team of the season.
"Kelli has spent a great deal of time in and out of season working on her game, and her efforts are paying off on the court," SDSU Head Coach Phil McDaniel Said. "She remains a consistent force for our team, and continues to add to her shot selection this season."
The junior from Parkston posted a .370 hitting percentage or better in four of the Jackrabbits five matches, including three matches with only one error. She also tallied a career-high 22 kills and 46 attempts in the Jacks five-set win over Arkansas State. For the week, Fiegen hit at a .406 clip, with 66 kills and just 14 errors in 128 swings and averaged 3.88 kills per set with 20 blocks, four digs and three assists.
Fiegen shares the weekly honor with Analaine Pelaez-Mailoto of Southern Utah.
The Jackrabbits return to action on Friday, when they open Summit League play against IUPUI, and then close the weekend against Western Illinois on Saturday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Frost Arena.
