The South Dakota State men's and women's cross country teams head to Tulsa, Okla., this Saturday to compete in The Summit League Championships...
The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.
On the men's side, the Jacks attempt to win a third straight conference championship.
This season, senior Greg Vollmer led the Jackrabbits with an 8k time of 25:03.5 at the Bradley Classic. Vollmer was a top finisher for the Jacks all season.
Last season, the men won the Summit League Cross Country Championship in convincing fashion, beating second-place Oakland by 15 points.
Junior Jared Ailts and Vollmer earned all-league second team honors for their performances. Ailts was ninth place with a time of 25 minutes and 16.9 seconds, while Vollmer finished four seconds later in 12th place.
Head coach Rod DeHaven earned Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive season.
On the women's side, the Jacks aim to climb the conference ladder from the sixth-place finish last season.
This season, the women's team has been fairly even, with different runners leading the way in each 6k meet. The low time of the season was posted by senior Danielle Burke, who ran the Bradley Classic in 22:09.47.
Last season, the women were in a cluster of four schools separated by only 41 points, with SDSU finishing third amongst those four.
Junior Erin Hargens earned all-league first team honors after a third-place finish with a time of 21 minutes and 24.3 seconds. Hargens was the only all-conference performer from SDSU last season.
