FARGO, N.D. - Kelli Fiegen finished with 19 kills and Kelly Herrmann tied a career-high with 22 digs, but South Dakota State could not capitalize on those performances to earn a win, as the Jackrabbits fell 3-1 to North Dakota State on Friday in Fargo, N.D.
"At times we looked like ourselves; fast, focused, able to take control of the tempo of the match and control at the net," head coach Phil McDaniel said. "Our downfall tonight was our numerous mental errors."
The Jackrabbits, who fell by the set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 16-25 and 20-25, fall to 12-15 overall and 4-10 in The Summit League. The defending Summit League Tournament champion Bison improve to 19-8 overall and 12-2 in the league.
In addition to her 19 kills, which leaves her just 18 kills shy of the 1,000 kill milestone, Fiegen added a match-high four block assists and two solo blocks. Kaitlin Klingemann finished with 10 kills and three service aces for the Jacks in the loss. Shay Birath tied with Herrmann with a match-high 22 digs.
Brynn Joki led the Bison with 14 kills and with 19 digs, while Chrissy Knuth finished with 12 kills and 12 digs.
The Jackrabbits return to action on Monday, when they welcome North Dakota to Frost Arena for the first time since Nov. 7, 2003. Monday's Halloween match begins at 7 p.m.
