DALLAS, Texas - The South Dakota State equestrian team competed in a hunt seat only event on Friday at SMU, and fell to the host Mustangs 10-2.

The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 3-7 on the season. SMU improves to 7-5 with the win.

"The loss was disappointing," SDSU assistant and hunt seat coach Kamerra Brown said. "But I'm really excited that I had the opportunity to try out some freshmen. They really stepped up."

Freshman Jordan Goodall stepped up and earned one of the two Jackrabbit points in over fences. The Centennial, Colo., native scored an 81 to earn the point, one more than her opponent.

Sophomore Santana Wright scored the only other SDSU point on the day, carding a 78 in over fences.

The full Jackrabbit equestrian team returns to action on Saturday, when they close the season at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
