South Dakota State women's track and field athlete Brooke Garner was named The Summit League's Outdoor Track and Field Women's Athlete of the Week for her performance this past weekend...

Garner set the school record in the hammer throw by nearly 10 feet, while competing at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Neb. The throw was a meet record and is the 13th-best mark in the nation. The mark is also tops in the league.

Garner also won the discus with a meet-record throw.

It is the first career outdoor track and field award for Garner.
