The South Dakota State men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback at UMKC on Thursday...

Competition began in the early afternoon, as the threat of rain forced the start time to be moved up. For that same reason, singles matches were first on the courts.

In singles, Parker Lawley and Dominic Rossetto put forth strong efforts at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, but were defeated 7-5, 6-2.

In doubles, Justin Pyle and Rossetto fought hard at No. 2, but were bested in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-5).

SDSU drops to 6-13 overall and 1-3 in league play.

The Jacks close out the regular season on Saturday against conference opponent Oral Roberts, with a berth in the Summt League Tournament on the line. Start time is set for Noon in Kansas City, Mo.
