Alexey Rumyanstev joined the SDSU tennis staff in the fall of 2012 as a graduate assistant for the men's and women's tennis teams.
In his first season as a graduate assistant coach, Rumyanstev helped the SDSU men's team return to The Summit League Championships as the regular-season runner-up, the best regular-season league finish in school history. On the women's side, he helped the team qualify for its first postseason and most team wins since joining The Summit League.
As a player, Rumyanstev was an All-American in Doubles ITA, USA South First Team All-Conference, USA South All-Tournament Team, USA South All-Academic Team, NCWC men's tennis team MVP, No. 3 national doubles ranking and No. 9 singles regional ranking (South).
As an instructor, Rumyanstev taught at the Tennis Academy at Harvard and was Assistant Tennis Director at the AASM Tennis Academy in Moscow, Russia. Hitting partners include three top-100 WTA players (Dementieva, Kleybanova and Pivovarova).
Rumyanstev earned a degree in Accounting and a minor in Business Administration.
