Jackrabbits ranked 11th in the Midwest

NEW ORLEANS – After their top performances over the past two weeks, the South Dakota State Men’s Cross Country team is now ranked 11th in the Midwest region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

 

The Jackrabbits began their 2012 season being ranked 15th in the USTFCCCA Preseason Poll. Now after two weeks of competition SDSU is now ranked 11th.

 

SDSU started off the season with a second place finish at the NDSU Dual. Michael Krsnak won the race and claimed the Summit League’s Men’s Cross Country’s Athlete of the Week.

 

This past weekend, the Jackrabbits traveled to Falcon Heights, Minn. to compete in the OZ Memorial. Trent Lusignan took home third place, with a finishing time of 19:01.28. SDSU placed second at the OZ.

 

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is the only other Summit League team to be ranked in the Midwest region. The Kangaroos are ranked 15th.

 

The Jackrabbits will be hosting the SDSU Classic this Friday, Sept. 14, with the races beginning at 6:15 p.m.
