Witzmann receives MVFC award
South Dakota State left tackle Bryan Witzmann has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the Jackrabbits' Sept. 22 victory at 22nd-ranked Indiana State.
A junior from Houlton, Wis., Witzmann anchored an offensive line that paved the way for the Jackrabbits to rush for 297 yards. He received a championship grade of 1.81 as SDSU averaged 6.6 yards per carry and rolled up 348 yards of total offense en route to its third consecutive win.
Witzmann has started all 26 games during his three seasons in a South Dakota State uniform. He is the second Jackrabbit to earn the weekly offensive lineman award this season, joining senior center Will Castle following SDSU's Sept. 8 victory at Southeastern Louisiana.
The 25th-ranked Jackrabbits return home this Saturday to face Missouri State in the 46th Annual Cereal Bowl. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium with the game slated to be televised on Mediacom.
