Brookings, S.D. — Despite less than perfect weather conditions the women’s cross country team finished 13th today at the Chile Pepper Invite. Laura Wolles had the best finish for the Jackrabbits as she clocked in at 22:42.3, which gave her a 70th place on the day.
Erin Hargens was close behind as she completed the difficult course in 22:48.4, that earned her an 82nd place finish.
In her fourth collegiate race Cheyanne Bowers finished 92nd. Bowers’ time on the day was 23:00.5.
Laura Lawton completed the course in a time of 23:32.2. Lawton was the 131th runner to finish the race.
Within 17 seconds after Lawton crossed the finish line, Jenna Grossenburg joined her. Grossenburg’s time on the day was 23:49.0, which was good enough for a 149th place finish.

In the end, SDSU finished 13th out of 43 teams. There were 341 runners in the women’s race and SDSU had everyone finish in the top 280. The average time for the Jackrabbits was 22:52.14.
SDSU will be back in action in two weeks in the Summit League Championships in Rochester, Mich. at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27.
