South Dakota State women's soccer defender Dani Patterson was named Defensive Player of the Week for her performances Oct. 15-21.

Patterson started both games for the Jacks this weekend, a pair of one-goal, shutout wins versus Kansas City and South Dakota. Patterson and the SDSU defense held both teams to four shots on goal and stifled some of the top forwards in the league.

The Jacks jumped ahead of the Kangaroos in the league standings with the wins, as well.

It is the first POW award of her career and the first for any Jackrabbit this season.

The wins kept SDSU's postseason hopes alive as it heads to Omaha for its regular season finale. Game time is set for 3 p.m. on Friday in Omaha, Neb.
