South Dakota State women's soccer player Diana Potterveld was named Female Athlete of the Month for October.

The award capped a month of record-setting success for Potterveld.

Potterveld tallied three game-winning goals in the final three games, the first player in SDSU history to accomplish that feat. In addition, she recorded the first Jackrabbit hat-trick since 2004. Her 10 points in a three-game span are the most by a SDSU player since 2003. Potterveld earned Offensive Player of the Week recognition for her performance Oct. 26.

The forward was named The Summit League Freshman of the Year, the first Jackrabbit in program history to receive the honor, and to the All-League first team and All-League freshmen team.

For the month, Potterveld recorded 14 points on six goals and two assists and had 13 shots on goal.

Potterveld was joined by SDSU men's cross country runner Michael Krsnak, who was named Male Athlete of the Month for October after being crowned the 2012 Men’s Cross Country Champion and leading SDSU to its third team title in four years. The SDSU release is available on GoJacks.com.

It is the first school sweep of The Summit League Athletes of the Month since February of 2011-12.

The complete release is available on The Summit League website.
