ELMHURST, Ill. - The Summit League named South Dakota State guard Nate Wolters its initial men's basketball player of the week on Monday after his 30-point effort in the season-opener at Alabama. The honor marks the ninth of Wolters' career, tying him for the second-highest total on record.

"We were thrilled to see Nate named Summit League Player of the Week," head coach Scott Nagy said. "He obviously played great against Alabama and kept us in the game. The best part for us was to see him shoot the ball well from the three-point line because he's worked so hard on that part of his game, and if he continues he will even be more difficult to guard."

A senior from St. Cloud, Minn., Wolters poured in 30 of the Jacks 67 points against an Alabama defense that ranked ninth nationally last season in scoring. He made a career-high five three-pointers on six attempts and converted 10-of-15 field goals and all five free throw attempts in the nationally-televised opening night contest. Wolters added three assists, three steals and three rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
