Lusignan leads Jacks

MINNEAPOLIS – The South Dakota State men's track and field team wrapped up their second day at the Jack Johnson Invite.

Trent Lusignan took third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:30.00. His personal best in the 3,000-meter run is 8:29.25.

Michael Krsnak took sixth overall in the mile, with a time of 4:13.85.  

Day two began with Bennett Mercil taking part in the 60-meter hurdles. Mercil took third with a time of 8.93.

Mercil was able to take first place in the heptathlon pole vault with a height of 13’ 09.25”.

In the 1,000 meters, Mercil finished with a time of 2:57.99.

Overall in the heptathlon, Mercil finished sixth.

In his second collegiate meet Nathaniel Schaefer has already improved his pole vault mark. Earlier this season, Schaefer recorded a height of 14' 02.50"; today his mark was 15’ 01.00”. Schaefer placed ninth in the event.

Justin Carson took eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.20.

In the men’s triple jump, Jake Sanderson recorded a distance of 42’ 07.0”.

LeAndre Kennedy placed seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.06.

In the 800-meter dash, Phillip LaVallee placed sixth with a time of 1:57.00.

Stephen Bruha ran unattached on the day and finished the 600-meter dash in 1:22.57.

Cullen Mack recorded a distance of 46” 07.25’ in the weight throw.

Kyle Anderson was the lone Jackrabbit to compete in the shot put, he finished with a mark of 43’ 07.00”.

SDSU finished sixth in the meet.

The Jackrabbits will be back in action next Saturday at the Bill Bergan Invite in Ames, Iowa hosted by Iowa State.
