The 2013 Summit League Food Fight began on Saturday,Jan. 26, when the South Dakota State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee started its annual non-perishable food drive before the Jackrabbit men's basketball game against North Dakota State. 

The "Food Fight" involves all nine of the league's athletic programs. The school that raises the most pounds of food receives The Summit League Food Fight trophy.

Fans can bring a non-perishable food item, or make a donation with $5 equal to 13 pounds of food.

In addition to the men's basketball game against NDSU, fans can bring food or make a monetary donation to support the Food Fight at the following events:

Jan. 31 vs. South Dakota (MBB)
Feb. 1 vs. Northern Iowa (Wrestling)
Feb. 7 vs. Fort Wayne (WBB)
Feb. 9 vs. Oakland (WBB)

South Dakota State won the Food Fight in 2010-11, finished third in 2011-12 and finished second last year behind Southern Utah.

To help raise awareness for the 2013 Food Fight, The Summit League initiated a viral video contest, with each school's uploaded to The Summit League YouTube Channel. The school that gets the most "likes" wins $770 toward its food fight totals.
