BROOKINGS, S.D. - The men's track and field team found success today on the road at the USD Alumni Meet and the Bill Bergan Invite. Drew Kraft greatly improved his time in the 3000-meters today, he clocked in at 8:40.34. His personal best was 8:46.42, which he set last year.
Kraft's time ranks in the top-ten in The Summit League already this year.
Bill Bergan Invite:
LeAndre Kennedy was one of many who set personal bests on the day with his time of 6.98 in the 60-meter dash.
Earlier this year in his first meet as a Jackrabbit, Kennedy posted the third-best time in SDSU history in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.02 seconds. Kennedy is still third on the top-five list, but is closing in on JaRon Harris who set the mark of 6.94 back in 2009.
Kennedy's time in the 60-meter dash is tied for second in The Summit League.
Justin Carson posted a personal best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.77 seconds. His personal best before was 50.80, which was set back in 2012.
In the mile Phillip LaVallee was the lone Jackrabbit to crack the top-ten. LaVallee finished tenth with a time of 4:15.21. Trent Lusignan posted a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:16.33. Lusignan placed fifteenth.
Luke Leischner found himself in sixth in the 200-meter dash when he clocked in at 22.13 seconds. Leischner’s time is the fastest time posted in The Summit League yet this year.
At the USD Alumni Meet:
Chris Curry ran unattached in the 60-meter dash and finished third. Curry had a time of 7.12. Curry took fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.75.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Bennett Mercil finished sixth with a time of 8.83. His time of 8.83 is a new personal best and ranks ninth in The Summit League.
Traxton Priebe clocked in at 53.16 in the 400-meter dash. Priebe finished sixth.
Austin Hamm finished the 3000-meter run in 9:19.03. He placed seventh in the event.
Connor Berg won the high jump with a height of 6’ 04.75”. His mark ranks fifth in The Summit League.
Jeremiah Ary beat his personal best in the long jump today with a distance of 21’ 06.25”.
Jake Sanderson finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 44’ 08.00”. Sanderson’s previous best was 43’ 11.75”.
Kyle Anderson placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 45’ 04.50”.
In the weight throw, Ryan Ackman posted a season best mark. Ackman earlier this year recorded a mark of 44’ 06.75. Today Ackman posted a mark of 51’ 02.75.
The Jackrabbits will be back on the road again next weekend
as they travel to Lincoln, Neb and Fargo, N.D. Nebraska will be hosting the Husker Invite over
Feb. 1 and 2. North Dakota State is hosting the Bison Open on Feb. 1 and 2.
