Women finish fourth at championships

ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The South Dakota State University women's swimming and diving team finished fourth at the 2013 Summit League Championships.

For the third straight day, Junior Kaylin Caron was part of two school records. Caron broke the school record in the 100 freestyle with a second place time of 51.16 seconds. She broke the school record earlier in the day in prelims with a time of 51.62 seconds. The previous school record in the event was set by Caron at the conference meet last year.

Caron, Devonne Dalin, Selina Gilbertson and Nicole Grimit broke the school record in the 400 freestyle relay with a second place time of 3:27.55. The previous school record time was 3:28.82, which was set at the conference meet last year.

Andrea Budahl placed third in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:04.62. Emma Gaulke-Janowski finished seventh in the event with a time of 17:27.68.

Devonne Dalin finished fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.80 seconds and Nicole Grimit finished sixth with a time of 52.23 seconds.

Emmalee Wright finished fifth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.41. Kylie Poel finished eighth in the event with a time of 2:09.19.

Kayce Smith finished seventh in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:22.95.

The women finished fourth with 476 points. Oakland won with 977 points.
