VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota State men’s track and field team ended the 2013 Summit League Indoor Championships with a fourth place finish. The Jackrabbits were led by Trent Lusignan who won the 5000-meter run with his time of 14:33.69. This was Lusignan’s first conference victory. Yesterday he placed second in the 3000-meter run.
Continuing his strong weekend, LeAndre Kennedy took third in the 60-meter dash with his time of 6.93. His time today is a new personal best and ranks second all-time in SDSU history.
After fiished third yesterday in the 3000-meter run, Michael Krsnak finished fourth overall today in the mile with his time of 4:11.93.
Phillip LaVallee finished fifth in the 800-meter run with his time of 1:57.04.
Joel Reichow posted a top-ten time in the mile with his time of 4:24.08.
Levi Winkels took eighth in the 400-meter dash with his time of 51.69.
In the high jump, Connor Berg took fourth with a height of 6’ 4.00”.
Jeremiah Ary and Jake Sanderson competed well in the long jump as they both finished in the top-ten. Ary posted a merk of 45’ 0.25” to place sixth. Sanderson finished eighth with a distance of 44’ 04.25”.
Bennett Mercil set two personal bests on the day, the first was in the 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.66. The second was in the heptathlon with 4627 points. He finished fifth in the heptathlon.
Today wraps up the indoor season for SDSU, but they will be back in action on March 23th and 24th at the Missouri Relays in Columbia, Mo.
