ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League has released their 2013 Outdoor Track and Field preseason poll today (March 13), with both Jackrabbit teams selected to finish fourth.
In the men’s poll, the Kangaroos’ of Kansas City edged the Jackrabbits by one point to claim third place. On the women’s side, SDSU was voted into fourth place by one point over Kansas City.
Last year the Jacks finished fourth (men) and fifth (women).
Jared Ailts and Justin Carson are the two male athletes returning that were named All-League last year.
SDSU will be returning four women that were named All-League last year, they are: Megan Bren, Gina Fritz, Brooke Garner and Ashley Odegaard.
The outdoor season begins for the Jackrabbits on March 22 at the Missouri Relays in Columbia, Mo.
The Summit League Track and Field Outdoor Championships are set to take place May 9-11 in Muncie, Ind.; the championships will be hosted by Fort Wayne.
During the 2012-13 indoor season the men finished fourth, while the women took fifth overall.
