Women's golf finishes 5th at Creighton Classic
OMAHA, NEB. -- The Jackrabbit women’s golf team wrapped up a 5th place finish at the 36-hole Creighton Classic on Tuesday afternoon.
SDSU shot a two-day total of 659 on the 6,010-yard, par-72 Oak Hills Country Club.
Sitting in 4th place after a first-round team score of 319 on Monday, the Jacks posted a 340 in round two Tuesday, dropping to 5th place and one stroke back of 4th place finisher Bellevue University (326-332-658).
Morgan Fitts tied for 11th place with rounds of 79 and 82 (161). The senior now is tied for first on SDSU’s career top-25 list with 15.
North Dakota State took top honors as a team and on the player leader board. The Bison (315-310-625) began Tuesday’s round four strokes back of leader Northern Iowa(311-319-630) and ended up winning the tourney by five strokes.
NDSU’s Amy Anderson shot a 146 (74-72), winning tournament champion honors by eight strokes over UNI’s Kaylee Benson (78-76-154).
The Jackrabbits now set their sights on The Summit League Championship, held April 22-24 at the Sky Creek Ranch Golf Course in Keller, Texas.
SDSU plays host to this year’s conference tournament in conjunction with The Summit League.
