The Jacks closed out the regular season with wins in must-win meets versus Western Illinois on Friday (5-2) and Fort Wayne on Saturday (4-1) in Macomb, Ill.

SDSU seized momentum in doubles with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 for the team point.

Andrea Boglić and Parker Lawley finished the season with an 8-6 win versus Daniel Kang and Joao Freitas at the top spot. The duo improved to 9-4 overall, the most wins of all SDSU doubles teams, and 3-1 in league play.

Henrique Pereira and Lucas Pereira dominated from the start and closed out Jonathan Raa and Andres Cobos at No. 3 with an 8-4 win. The result pushed their record to 8-2 overall, the best winning percentage of all SDSU doubles teams.

The No. 2 match between James Thorp/Mateus Moreira and Connor Andrews/Martin Muadi was tied 7-7 and unfinished.

In singles, SDSU needed only three wins for the team win and reached decision after four matches.

Boglić made it a clean sweep versus Kang at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win and improved to 2-1 in league matches.

Lawley needed three sets versus Andrews, but held on after a first-set win for a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 result. He finished the season with a team-best 13 singles wins and remained undefeated in league play at 3-0.

The final SDSU point was not as contested, as H. Pereira won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 versus Freitas.

Fort Wayne scored its lone team point at No. 6 singles, but it was not enough as the Jacks won the meet and clinched the No. 2 seed.

“The boys came out ready to play again today and we had another complete match,” head coach Michael Engdahl said. “I was worried we were going to have a letdown today after qualifying last night, but that was not the case at all. We started strong, were able to weather the storm when they made a push and finished strong. It’s great to finish the season on a five-match winning streak and have some momentum going into the tournament. It will be fun to see what happens next weeknd.”

As Coach Engdahl alluded, SDSU advanced to The Summit League Championships with its 11-10 overall record, 4-1 in the league. The Jacks finished the regular season on a five-meet winning streak, including three Summit League meets, and outscored its opponents 26-5 in those meets.

The remainder of the field is to be determined, but the Jacks are in for the second-straight season. The championships are set for Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
