Tracking the 'Rabbits

The South Dakota State track and field team is about to embark on one of their busiest weekends of the year. The Jackrabbits will be competing in four meets in three different states over four days.

SDSU will be competing in the Drake Relays (Des Moines, Iowa), Kip Janvrin Open (Indianola, Iowa), Mt. Marty Twilight (Yankton, S.D.) and the Drake Alternative (St. Peter, Minn.).

Schedule of Events:

Thursday:

2:00 p.m.: The women’s hammer throw and the men’s discus begins at the Kip Janvrin Open. (W hammer--Shelby Assmus, McKenzie Johnson, Amy Paulzine; M discus—Ryan Ackman, Cullen Mack).

4:40 p.m.: Samantha Anderson, Laura Lawton, Jenna Grossenburg and Karley Konkol will be competing in the 4x1600-meter relay at the Drake Relays.

8.10 p.m.: Anthony Bongard will be representing SDSU in the 10k at the Drake Relays.

9:05 p.m.: Trent Lusignan and Michael Krsnak will be running in the 5k at the Drake Relays.

Friday:

11:10 a.m.: Jared Foote, Luke Leischner, Dominique Wright and LeAndre Kennedy will be running in the 4x100-meter relay at the Drake Relays.

2:00 p.m.: Amy Paulzine competes in the javelin and Brooke Garner throws the discus at the Drake Relays. The women’s shot put and men’s javelin is set to start at the Kip Janvrin Open (W shot—McKenzie Johnson, Shelby Assmus, Kae Januschka; M jav—Blair Seamore).

3:50 p.m.: Erin Hargens, S. Anderson, Konkol will be competing in the 1500-meter run at the Kip Janvrin Open.

4:20 p.m.: Lusignan and Krsnak will be running in the 1500-meter run at the Kip Janvrin Open.

4:30 p.m.: Men’s long jump starts at Mt. Marty (Jeremiah Ary).

5:30 p.m.: Laron Broadway starts off track events at Mt. Marty for SDSU in the men’s 100m.

5:45 p.m.: The team of Ashley Odegaard, Megan Bren, Gina Fritz, Carly Carper will run the 4x200-meter relay at the Drake Relays.

6:45 p.m.: Leischner, Foote, Wright and Justin Carson will team up to run the 4x200-meter relay at the Drake Relays.

7:05 p.m.: Krista Creager, Tera Potts, Bobbie McLaury, Jessica Eibs will race in the 4x800-meter at the Drake Relays.

9:35 p.m.: Grossenburg, Leah Bolon, Josie Oakland will run in the 5k at the Kip Janvrin Open.

Saturday:

9 a.m.: Garner competes in the hammer throw at the Drake Relays.

9:15 a.m.: The men’s javelin starts off the throws at the Drake Alternative (Seamore & Ryan Jorgenson).

9:47 a.m.: Bren, Carper, Fritz and Krista Creager will compete in the sprint medley relay at the Drake Relays.

10:30 a.m.: The women’s pole vault and women’s high jump kick off the jumps at the Drake Alternative. Amy Leiferman and Kali Olson are scheduled to compete in their respective events.

12:15 p.m.: Kirsten Anderson will be running in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Drake Alternative.

12:30 p.m.: Shelby Assmus, Paulzine, Becca Fischer, Kae Januschka will be throwing in the discus at the Drake Alternative.

1:42 p.m.: Hargens, Bren, Creager and Potts will be running in the distance medley at the Drake Relays.

Up Next:

The Jackrabbits will be competing in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D. next weekend (May 3-4). The Howard Wood Dakota Relays is the final tune-up before The Summit League Track and Field Outdoor Championships. The championships are scheduled to take place on May 9-11 in Muncie, Ind.
