Bougher shares Summit award
ELMHURST, Ill. — For the second time in three weeks, South Dakota State University right-hander Stephen Bougher has been named a recipient of the Summit League Pitcher of the Week award.
A senior from Papillion, Neb., Bougher returned to his hometown this weekend, leading South Dakota State to an 8-1 victory over Oakland on April 27 in a game that was moved due to unplayable conditions at the Jakrabbits' home field. Bougher pitched a seven-inning complete game, allowing only two hits while striking out three and walking three.
Bougher also received the weekly Summit League award after throwing a three-hit shutout at Oakland on April 14. For the season, Bougher has compiled a 5-1 record with a 3.12 earned run average in nine starts. He has moved into a tie for seventh place on the SDSU career wins chart with 19 and will tie current Minnesota Twins prospect Caleb Thielbar for first place in career starts with 44 when he makes his next scheduled start Saturday at Western Illinois.
Bougher shared this week's award with Western Illinois left-hander Aaron Michel.
