Fiegen signs pro contract in Switzerland
Recent South Dakota State graduate and volleyball standout Kelli Fiegen signed to play professional volleyball with Hotel Cristal VFM in Saignelégier, Switzerland.
“I’m so excited for the opportunity to go to Switzerland to continue my volleyball career,” Fiegen said. “VFM is a very competitive club, and I felt a great place to start my professional career. I can't wait to start this new adventure and chapter in my life and volleyball career.”
A four-year letterwinner at SDSU, Fiegen earned all-conference honors three times and Summit Player of the Year honors in 2010 in leading the Jackrabbits to The Summit League Tournament. She finished her illustrious career at SDSU ranked sixth all-time with 1,407 kills, seventh all-time with 107 solo blocks, second all-time with 409 block assists and third all-time with a .326 career hitting percentage. She also spent the last two summers training and competing with the Team USA A2 team.
“This is a great step for Kelli in her volleyball career,” SDSU head coach Phil McDaniel said. “We’re thrilled for her to get the opportunity to continue playing, and for her to get to travel to an incredible area of the world. We wish her all the best, and we look forward to hearing how her training translates to the international stage!”
Fiegen reports to VFM no later than Sept. 1, 2013.
