LOS CABOS, Mexico-- The South Dakota State men’s golf team opened up play at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Sunday and stand in 11th place out of 12 teams.

Greg Fehrman is tied for fifth after shooting a 73 in the first round at the 7,050-yard, par-72 Querencia Cabo Golf Resort, located near the Sea of Cortez. Fehrman is only three strokes off of the lead heading into the second round.

Hudson Carpenter is tied for 31st after posting an opening round of 77. Dillon Schultz shot an 80 and stands in a tie for 47th.

Brian Wynia is tied for 60th after a round of 85 and Miles Knutsen rounded out the top-five for the Jacks with an 87, in a tie for 63rd.

After the scorecards were tallied on day one, Ole Miss holds a three-stroke lead (296) over the rest of the competition. The leadboard is tight heading into day two of the tourney, with only 22 strokes separating the first and 12th place teams.

Individually, University of Kentucky’s Will Bishop shot a 70 and holds a two-stroke lead over three other players.
