JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- The South Dakota State women’s golf team ended the fall season with an eighth place finish at the Jacksonville Courtyard Classic held at Hidden Hills Country Club.

The Jacks shot 977 (333-320-324) as a team on the 5,969-yard, par-72 course and edged out Florida Atlantic University by one stroke after being tied heading into the final round Tuesday.

Morgan Fitts finished just outside the top-25 in a tie for 26th. She posted rounds of 80 and 78 on Monday and came back with a 78 (236) in the final round.

Michaela Kouri moved up eight places to take 41st place with rounds of 88, 78 and 78 (245).

Amber Houser and Brianna Janu finished in a tie for 46th with two other golfers. Houser carded rounds of 81, 83 and 86 (250), while Janu shot 84, 83 and 83 (250).

Finishing in 56th, Sydney MacDonald posted scores of 92, 81 and 84 (257).

Troy University took top team honors with a two-day total of 989. Troy placed all five golfers in the top-25 to win by 12 strokes.

Georgia Price of Florida Gulf Coast University won the tournament in a playoff with Troy’s Taylor McGraw. Both golfers finished at three-over par (219).

With the fall season wrapped up, the Jacks won’t be back in competition until the spring “home” meet, the Jackrabbit Invitational held in Primm, Nev., March 11-12, 2013.
