Blackburne, Academic All-League
South Dakota State women's tennis student-athlete Jenny Blackburne was named to the Women's Tennis Academic All-Summit League Team.
Blackburne finished the season with an 11-11 singles record, primarily at No. 3, and a team-best 16-7 in doubles. The 15 doubles wins with her primary partner were tied-for-second in the league by any duo at any position.
Her performance helped the Jackrabbits clinch the first postseason berth in school history as the No. 3 seed at The Summit League Championships.
In the classroom, Blackburne posted a 3.909 grade point average in mechanical engineering. The GPA is the top mark of all academic team honorees.
Selections were voted on by Faculty Athletic Representatives and Sports Information Directors at member institutions. The honor combines academic and athletic achievements.
To be eligible for Academic All-League, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution (freshmen and first-year transfers are ineligible) and participated in 50 percent of her team's competitions.
The complete release is available on The Summit League website.
