Brown honored by Valley Football, nationally
South Dakota State University linebacker Dallas Brown has been honored as both at the conference level and nationally for for his performance in the Jackrabbits’ 34-26 home win over Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 14.
A redshirt freshman from Tucson, Ariz., Brown was natmed both Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Week, as well as being honored as National Freshman of the Week by The Sports Network and National Linebacker of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.
In his first career start, Brown intercepted a pair of passes and was credited with six tackles as the sixth-ranked Jackrabbits rallied to stay undefeated at 3-0. Both of Brown’s interceptions came on Southeastern’s last two offensive possessions; the first interception he returned 52 yards for a touchdown with 2:25 to play. The second interception also came near midfield with just over a minute remaining, sealing the Jackrabbit victory.
