Twice as nice; Inskeep wins second DPOW award
ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State women’s soccer goalkeeper Nicole Inskeep was named Defensive Player of the Week by The Summit League for her performance last weekend.
Inskeep and the Jackrabbit defense posted two shutout victories against Drake (1-0) and Northern Iowa (1-0) this past weekend.
Over the weekend she played 193 minutes and tallied four saves.
So far in 2013, Inskeep has played 779 minutes, saved 26 shots and only allowed five goals. She has five shutouts on the year.
“It’s a great honor when one of our players is recognized by the league,” noted head coach Lang Wedemeyer. “I think Nikki did a great job this weekend by making some key saves, especially early in games.”
This is the second Defensive Player of the Week award for Inskeep. She shares the honor with Denver’s Cassidy Rey.
Inskeep and the Jackrabbits are back home this weekend as they play host to Kansas on Friday at 6 p.m. and North Dakota on Sunday at 1 p.m.
