In her Jackrabbit debut, Iasmin Rosa went 2-0 on the day, defeating Elvira Lopez (Northern Iowa) 6-3, 7-5 and Maria Paula Ribero (EMU) 6-2, 6-1. Rosa competed in the maroon flight
"Iasmin played phenomenal for her first matches as a Jackrabbit," Engdahl said. "She had two great singles wins and handled herself well on court for this being her first tournamen."

In the U flight, Davies fell to Aria Lambert (Minnesota) 6-4, 7-6 in the Gopher flight before topping Klavidja Rebol (Wisconsin) 5-0, before Rebol retired.

"I am extremely happy with the way the girls played today," Engdahl said. "We didn’t back down from any challenge and came up with some quality wins. We were in every match we played which is exactly what we want for the first matches of the year against solid opponents. We are picking up on more things to work on each match and I know the girls are excited to get back to work tomorrow."
