ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State’s Dani Patterson was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for her play against South Dakota and Omaha. This is the second time in her career she has won the award.

She won the award last year on Oct. 22, 2012.

Patterson and the Jackrabbit defense held the Coyotes and Mavericks scoreless last weekend. The opposing offenses only tallied 10 total shots against the Jacks.

SDSU has recorded nine shutouts this season.

This is the fourth time this year a SDSU player has won Defensive Player of the Week. Nicole Inskeep won the award back-to-back earlier this season and Katie McNeary claimed the award last week.

The Jackrabbits won both games last weekend in 1-0 fashion and have yet to concede a goal in Summit League action. SDSU is 4-0-0 in conference play and hosts North Dakota State on Oct. 19.

Game time is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday night at Fishback Soccer Park.
