Lusignan runs 23:49.65 at Pre-Nationals
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Trent Lusignan and the Jackrabbit men’s cross country team placed 29th out of 52 teams at the Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday morning.
Five of the seven runners set personal bests in an 8k race today at the Pre-Nationals meet.
Lusignan finished 19th overall with his final time of 23:49.65. He finished in a mix of runners from nationally ranked schools. He is unofficially the second Jackrabbit to run a time of sub-24.
With his time of 23:49.65 at the Pre-Nationals meet, Lusignan crushed his personal best by almost a minute (24:47.8). He set his old personal best earlier this year at the Griak Invitational.
Anthony Bongard was the next Jackrabbit runner to cross the finish line. Bongard finished 149th with his overall time of 24:56.93.
Joel Reichow shaved 21 seconds off his personal best time in an 8k race. Reichow ran a time of 25:02.3 to take 170th.
Ten seconds after Reichow finished, Brendan Sage completed the course. Sage set a time of 25:12.44 to place 203rd.
As a team, the Jackrabbits placed 29th overall with 801 points. No. 2 Colorado won the meet with 90 points.
The Jackrabbits will send a group of runners to the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton, S.D. on Oct. 26. After the Mount Marty Invite, the Jackrabbits will head to Fort Wayne, Ind. for The Summit League Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2.
