No. 14 Denver rolls past SDSU, 4-0
DENVER – The South Dakota State women’s soccer team suffered their first conference loss of the season as they fell to No. 14 Denver 4-0 on Friday night at CIBER Field. Nicole Inskeep made a career-high nine saves throughout the game.
“This was one of the best teams I have faced in my career. I thought we played very good in the first half, but we were sorely out played in the second, noted head coach Lang Wedemeyer. “We have to now rebound to play Fort Wayne next weekend.”
SDSU started the game with three shots on goal, but Denver goalkeeper Cassidy Rey stopped all three. The first shot on goal for SDSU came via Shelby Raper (2:32). Alexa Trakalo followed up Raper’s shot with two of her own; Rey saved both of Trakalo’s shots (6:07, 10:49).

Ashley Adams’ only shot of the game was blocked (37:21).
Hamilton had two shot attempts in the final seven minutes of the first half, but Inskeep stepped up for a pair of saves (38:40, 43:41).
The Jackrabbits went into halftime trailing the Pioneers, 1-0. Inskeep made four saves in the first half of the game and Rey made three saves for Denver.
Denver added another goal less than a minute into the second half. Pappalardo crossed the ball into the box and Adams deflected the ball into the net for an own goal to give DU a 2-0 lead (45:54).
Cassidy Larson extended the lead to 3-0 in the 66th minute. Larson got past the SDSU defense and scored on the far post (65:55).
Paige Diamond added the final goal for Denver as her shot went into the upper left corner of the goal (84:24).
