Balanced attack leads Jacks past Trojans

A total of 10 Jackrabbits scored at least two points and four scored in double figures as South Dakota State rolled past Dakota State by a score of 88-62 on Wednesday night at Frost Arena.

Cody Larson and Jordan Dykstra both scored 17 points to lead all scorers, with Larson adding a game-high 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Chad White and Anders Broman both finished with 11 points in the win, which boosts the Jacks record to 4-6 on the season.

Marcus Smith Led the Trojans, who fall to 4-6, with 16 points, with Dylan Hale adding 13 points in the loss.

After trio of early ties and a pair of lead changes, the Jackrabbits broke a 19-all tie with an 11-2 run, and then ended the half on a 9-2 run to take a 45-29 lead into halftime.

The Jacks kept pouring it on in the second half, increasing the lead to as many as 30 points on a pair of Zach Horstman free throws with less than a minute left in the game.

SDSU shot 63 percent in the first half on 17 of 27 shooting, and then went 14 for 28 in the second half for a season-high total of 56.4 percent on the night, 31-55. DSU shot 35 percent on the night, 21-60 and went 10 of 23 from long range, 43.5 percent, after starting the game 5 for 6 from 3-point range.

The Jackrabbits return home on Saturday, Dec. 14 to host Belmont at 4 p.m., but not before traveling to Minneapolis to take on Minnesota on Tuesday. The Jacks and Golden Gophers tip at 7 p.m. from Williams Arena.

NOTES: SDSU improves to 21-4 all-time against Dakota State ... a crowd of 1,128 fans braved the weather outside to watch the game ... Chad White’s 11 points moves him from 36th all-time at SDSU to 35th with 1,048 points, passing Pete Leiferman (1,043 points from 1989-93) ... White also jumped from fifth to fourth all-time at SDSU with a .419 career-3-point percentage after going 3 for 4 from deep ... Connor Devine scored a career-high eight points in the game, topping his previous career-high of seven, set at Stanford on Dec. 1 ... Matt Donlan scored his first-career points in the game when he made a layup with 1 minute, 22 seconds left in the game
