Jacks drop season opener to Oklahoma State, 4-0
STILLWATER, Okla. -- The South Dakota State men's tennis team dropped its season debut to Oklahoma State, 4-0 as the Cowboys christened the brand new Greenwood Tennis Center.
"Going into today, we knew it as going to be all about focus and execution," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "When we had it, we were able to dictate the play in the match. Unfortunately, we were not able to keep it every point. I know our execution will be better tomorrow and we will be mentally ready for Southern Illinois."
In singles, Lawley, Curcija and Mateus Moreira all fell to the Cowboys. Lawley dropped his match 6-1, 6-2, while Curcija and Moreira both fell 6-1, 6-3.
SDSU is now 0-2 all-time against OSU.
SDSU returns to action tomorrow as the Jacks take on Southern Illinois tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Stillwater, before traveling to Tulsa, Okla., to take on Oral Robert at 8 p.m.
