For the second straight season, South Dakota State men's basketball seniors Brayden Carlson and Jordan Dykstra both earned Capital One Academic All-District 6 honors for the work both in the classroom an on the court.

“We’ve won a lot of games and gone to two NCAA Tournaments over the last four years, and these two both played a big role in those wins, so they’re huge assets to our basketball team,” head coach Scott Nagy said. “Not only do they play basketball well and put in their time on the floor, but they perform as students in the classroom as well. They're huge assets to our program and one of the reasons why we've been so successful."

A point guard from Brookings, and starter in the last 81 games for the Jackrabbits, Carlson posted a 3.94 grade-point average in economics. On the court, the Jacks point ranks second on the team with 15.8 points per game overall, and leads the team with 21.4 points per game in Summit League play. He also leads the team with 56 assists and needs just 28 points to become the 45th member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club.

A Rock Valley, Iowa native, Dykstra posted a 3.71 GPA in biology/pre-dentistry. Athletically, Dykstra leads The Summit League with five double-doubles on the season and with 8.0 rebounds per game. He also leads the Jackrabbits with 16.6 points per game and ranks in the top-10 in SDSU history with 1,481 points (eighth) and with 733 rebounds (753), on pace to become just the third Jackrabbit in history rank in the top-five in both of those categories.
