Jackrabbit men finish out conference strong
Also in the 5,000-meter run, Trevor Capra and Andrew Thies rounded out the top-10 with their ninth- and 10th-place finishes. Capra finished ninth with his time of 15:08.92 and Thies clocked in at 15:15.23 to take 10th.
Bennett Mercil finished out the heptathlon strong as he placed fourth overall with his personal-best score of 4,654.
He started out the day tying his season-best time of 8.83 in the 60-meter hurdles as he finished the race in second-place. In the pole vault, he tied his season-best height of 13 feet, 11 1/4 inches to finish fourth. In the final event of the competition, the 1,000-meter run, Mercil took fourth with his time of 2:57.31.
In the high jump, all three Jackrabbit jumpers hit personal-best marks. Freshman Zach Koosman placed third with his mark of 6-8 3/4, Connor Berg claimed fourth with his height of 6-6 3/4 and Jake Sanderson tied his personal-best mark with a height of 6-2 3/4 to place 10th.
Koosman moves into tie for seventh all-time (Matt Heisel, 1995) in the SDSU record books.
Marc Husman claimed the runner-up spot in the finals of the 400-meter dash as he posted a final time of 49.87.
Jeremiah Ary posted a personal-best distance of 46-5 1/4 en route to a second-place finish in the triple jump. Also in the triple jump, Sanderson went 45-4 1/2 as he finished fourth overall.
In the finals of the 60-meter dash, LeAndre Kennedy ran a time of 7.01 to place fifth.
Traxton Priebe took seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.93.
In the final event of the day, the 4x400-meter relay, the Jackrabbits ran to a third-place finish. The group of Alex Wiemann, Ryan Swenson, Levi Winkels and Husman combined for a final time of 3:22.10.
Husman was named The Summit League Male Newcomer of the Championship for his performance this weekend.

The Jackrabbits begin their outdoor season campaign in late March when they travel to the Arizona State University Invite (March 28-29) and the Wayne State Invitational (March 29).
