EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Thanks to numerous weather issues, the South Dakota State softball team played its first game in two weeks on Sunday, but came up on the short end of a 7-1 game against Evansville in the Aces Invitational.

The loss, which snaps the Jackrabbits four game winning streak, drops them to 5-9 on the season, while the host Purple Aces improve to 8-5 on the season.

The Jacks lone run in the contest came in the third inning, when a KayCee Miller singled just past the reach of the Evansville second baseman to score Alyssa D'Agostino from second base to tie the game at 1-1.

Evansville got that run back in the bottom of the third to go up 2-1, and then added three more in the fourth and two more in the sixth to secure the win.

Along with Miller, Sammy Bingham and Allison Huffman also posted hits on the day, with Bingham’s posting her fourth double of the season.

Jennifer Sutton went the distance in the circle and took the loss to fall to 2-3 on the season. She surrendered all seven runs on 12 hits, with five strikeouts and three walks.

The Jackrabbits look to get back on the winning track on Sunday afternoon, when they take on Murray State at 4:30 p.m.
