Jacks close out spring break trip

ORLANDO, Fla. -- South Dakota State closed out its Spring Break trip by going 3-1 Saturday afternoon. The Jackrabbit men won a pair of matches, while the women went 1-1 on the day.

"I am so proud of the work we put in this week," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "Every player committed to the full week of tennis. It was great to see the boys go 6-0 heading into Summit League play. Our girls displayed tremendous fight and we gained positive momentum. It feels great to leave Orlando 11-1."

On the men's side, SDSU downed Bethune-Cookman, 5-2 and Stonehill, 7-0.

Parker Lawley, Lovro Curcija, Mateus Moreira and Gary Notkin all went 2-0 on the day in singles. The tandems of Lawle/Moreira and Boglic/Curcija solidified the double's point vs. BCU.

The Jackrabbit women beat Florida A&M, 4-3 and fell BCU, 5-2.

SDSU was swept in singles against FAMU, but picked up wins by Florencia Magni, Jenny Blackburne, Ffion Davies and Beatriz Souza to pick up the 4-3 win.

Against BCU, Davies was the lone Rabbit to win singles, as she defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-1. 

The Jacks also picked up the double's point, as Iasmin Rosa/Souza and Tacy Haws-Lay/Davies won their respective matches.

SDSU will return to the court March 21 to open Summit League action at Fort Wayne.
