Mastodons completes Jackrabbit sweep
INDIANAPOLIS – Fort Wayne starter Miranda Kramer tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout to complete the series sweep over South Dakota State in a 9-0, five inning contest played in Indianapolis due to unplayable field conditions in Fort Wayne.
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 5-17 overall and to 0-3 in Summit League play, while the Mastodons improve to 22-7 overall and to 3-0 in the league.
Kelly Kleppin broke up Kramer’s no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the third inning, but the Jacks could not get her around to score. She also hit a two-out double in the top of the fifth inning to complete a 2 for 2 day at the plate, but got stranded on second, which ended the inning and the game.
Ashlyn Bender got the start for the Jackrabbits in the circle, and took the loss.
The Jacks look to snap their skid on Friday at Western Illinois, when they start a three game series against the Fighting Leathernecks in Macomb, Ill., with a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
