LINCOLN, Neb. - The South Dakota State men's track and field team competed at the Nebraska Quad Saturday and Cullen Mack set the third-best hammer throw mark in school history with his distance of 182 feet, 7 inches. He took second overall in the event. 

Mack also posted a season-best mark in the discus throw (154-5) as he took fourth overall. Also in the discus throw, Ryan Ackman placed seventh with his season-best mark of 146-0 and Austin Benson placed 10th (140-11).

Also in the hammer throw, Ackman took third with his distance of 170-8, Benson posted a distance of 155-8 to place fifth and Kyle Anderson placed ninth with his distance of 145-6.

Anderson and Benson rounded out the top-five in the shot put with their fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively. Anderson posted a distance of 46-11 3/4 and Benson recorded a mark of 46-4 3/4.

Blair Seymour placed fifth in the javelin throw with his distance of 164-10.

In the long jump, Jeremiah Ary took second with his mark of 22-11 1/4. Also in the long jump, Ryan Schaefer placed seventh (21-8) and Bennett Mercil finished ninth (20-7 1/4).

Ary also took second in the triple jump as he tallied a season-best distance of 45-10. Also in the triple jump, Jake Sanderson placed third with his mark of 44-6 1/4.

Nathaniel Schaefer led the Jackrabbits in the pole vault as he cleared a personal-best height of 15-2 1/4 to place sixth.

Connor Berg went on to take fifth in the high jump event as he tied his season-best height of 6-5.

Drew Kraft and three other Jackrabbit runners finished in the top-10 of the 1,500-meter run. Kraft clocked in for a personal-best time of 3 minutes, 57.02 seconds for second-place, Brendan Sage placed fourth with his final time of 3:58.69, Joel Reichow took sixth as he ran a time of 3:59.22 and Daniel Pettit crossed the finish line in 4:02.34 to place eighth.

Bennett Mercil and Traxton Priebe finished back-to-back with their sixth- and seventh-place finishes. Mericl clocked in for a personal-best time of 16.20 and Priebe posted a personal-best time of 16.39.

Priebe also competed in the 400-meter hurdles. He set a personal-best time of 55.41 en route to a ninth-place finish.

Bo Arnold and LeAndre Kennedy both posted a time of 10.91 in the 100-meter dash. Arnold took sixth and Kennedy placed seventh.

Marc Husman placed 10th in the 200-meter dash with his time of 22.80. He also placed 12th in the 400-meter dash with his final time of 49.75.

Dylan Slaba represented the Jackrabbits in the 800-meter run. He recorded a time of 2:05.39 to finish 12th.

In the 3,000-meter run, Connor Branick placed fifth with his time of 9:20.90.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Husman, Justin Carson, Ryan Swenson and Levi Winkels posted a final time of 3:24.07 to take seventh.

The Jackrabbits are out west next weekend for their annual California trip. They will be competing at the Long Beach State Invite (April 19) and the Mt. SAC Relays (April 17-19).
