Carpenter, Davison Lead Jacks
KELLER, Texas—South Dakota State’s Hudson Carpenter and Lukas Davison each shot three-over par 75s Monday to finish tied for 12th in the first round of the 2014 Summit League Men’s Golf Championship at the Sky Creek Golf Club in Keller, Texas.
SDSU is in fifth place after shooting a 306 at the par-72, 6,953-yard layout. The Jacks trail first place Denver by 14 shots.
Carpenter shot a one-under par 35 on the front nine with birdies on the 12th, 15th and 18th holes. On the back nine, he was four over with birdies on the 2nd and 5th holes.
Davison (Fargo, N.D.) shot a two-over on the front nine and was one-under on the back nine. He collected birdies on the 9th and 12th holes.
In his first Summit League Championship, freshman Grant Smith (Des Moines, Iowa) is tied for 23rd after shooting a 78, including a birdie on the 18th.
Sophomore Dylan Baker (Eden Prairie, Minn.) shot a six-over par 78 (40-38) to tie for 23rd. Baker had birdies on the 15th and 18th holes.
Freshman Trevor Tobin (Brandon) is also tied for 23rd after shooting a six-over par 78. He fired a 40 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine. He had birdies on the 10th and 18th holes.
