South Dakota State has completed its 2014 football schedule, agreeing on a contract with Wisconsin-Oshkosh for a Sept. 20 game at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium.

The addition of the Beef Bowl game against UW-Oshkosh will give the Jackrabbits six home games as part of a 12-game regular season schedule. UW-Oshkosh finished the 2013 season 8-2 overall, with its two losses coming against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents by acombined four points.

“We are excited to be able to secure a 12th game for our football program,” SDSU head coach John Stiegelmeier said. “ I know our seniors look forward to the additional game, and we are all appreciative of our administration for being persistent through the scheduling process.”

SDSU is scheduled to kick off the regular season Aug. 30 at Missouri, then open the home portion of its schedule a week later on Sept. 6 against Cal Poly. The Jackrabbits also are scheduled to travel to fellow 2013 Football Championship Subdivision playoff qualifier Southern Utah for a non-conference matchup on Sept. 13.

The Jackrabbits will have their lone bye week of the season following the game against UW-Oshkosh, before opening the eight-game Missouri Valley Football Conference schedule Oct. 4 at Illinois State.

SDSU’s four-game MVFC home slate begins Oct. 11, when the Jackrabbits host Missouri State in the annual Hall of Fame Game.  Two weeks later, SDSU will host YoungstownState on Hobo Day.

After back-to-back road games at North Dakota State and Indiana State to open November, the Jackrabbits close the regular season with consecutive home games against Western Illinois on Nov. 15 and South Dakota on Nov. 22. The game against Western Illinois has been designated Military Appreciation Day, while the contest with USD will again be part of the South Dakota Showdown Series.

The 24-team NCAA FCS playoffs are scheduled to begin Nov. 29 at campus sites.

The Jackrabbits made their second consecutive appearance in the FCS playoffs during the 2013 season, finishing with a 9-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the MVFC.

SDSU will host its annual Spring Game this Saturday at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
