Witzmann, Peete sign with Texans
Former South Dakota State football players Bryan Witzmann and Doug Peete agreed to terms to join the Houston Texans as non-drafted free agents following the conclusion of this weekend's National Football League Draft.
An offensive lineman from Houlton, Wis., Witzmann earned All-America honors at left tackle during both the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He played -- and started -- in a school-record 49 games during his four-year Jackrabbit career and was later selected to play in the College All Star Bowl following his senior season.
A defensive end/outside linebacker from Olathe, Kan., Peete was a three-year starter for the Jackrabbits. He earned second-team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors in 2012 after leading the team with 13.5 tackles for loss and sharing the team lead with six sacks. Peete was an honorable mention all-MVFC selection during his senior season, when he tallied 70 total tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and five sacks.
Both Peete and Witzmann are expected to report to the Texans' minicamp on Wednesday.
