Neubert, Olson named Academic All-District
Neubert will be entering her senior year in the pharmacy program at South Dakota State this upcoming fall, while Olson recently graduated with a degree in psychology. Both Neubert and Olson have a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA).
Neubert, a native of Aberdeen, S.D., posted a 12th-place finish at the 2013 Summit League Cross Country Championships and was named All-Summit League Second Team. Also during the 2013 cross country season, she placed 74th at the NCAA Midwest Regional. On the track, Neubert finished in the top-10 in the 3,000-meter run (seventh) and the 5,000-meter run (sixth) at the 2013-14 Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships.
She has also been named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll, Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence and has been named as a Summit League Distinguished Scholar during her time with the Jackrabbits.
Olson, a recent SDSU graduate from Lisbon, N.D., has received numerous academic awards throughout her Jackrabbit career. She plans to continue her educational career next year, as she will be attending graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Her focus at Whitewater will be in school psychology.
Her academic achievements include: recipient of the 2014 Jackrabbit Scholar-Athlete Award, two-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic (2011 & 2013), Academic All-Summit League honoree, Summit League Distinguished Scholar, Summit League Academic Honor Roll and a member of The Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
In the high jump event, she ranks tied for fourth in the indoor high jump (5 feet, 8 inches) and is tied for second in the outdoor high jump (5-8 3/4) at SDSU. She was named All-Summit League for placing third in the high jump event at the 2013 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships. At the 2014 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Olson placed fourth with her personal-best height of 5-8 3/4.
Olson will be competing in the high jump event in the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Saturday at 6 p.m. This is the second time she has made the regional meet in the high jump event.
Neubert and Olson now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
