ELMHURST, Ill. — South Dakota State University pitcher J.D. Moore and outfielder Scott Splett are two of the nine players named to the Summit League All-Academic Baseball Team, which was announced earlier this week.

A junior from Mississauga, Ontario, Moore was selected to the team with a 3.47 grade-point average while majoring in pre-economics. On the mound, the right-hander posted a 4-3 record with a team-high eight saves during the 2014 season. He recorded a 3.07 earned run average, striking out 27 batters in 29.1 innings over 24 appearances. Moore became the Jackrabbits' leader in career saves during his junior season, finishing the campaign with 26.

Splett, a senior from Apple Valley, Minnesota, earned a spot on the all-academic team with a 3.48 GPA while majoring in biochemistry. He wrapped up his collegiate career by ranking second on the team with a .305 batting average, three home runs, 27 runs batted in and 12 doubles. Over his two seasons as a member of the Jackrabbit baseball team, Splett tallied 127 hits in 115 career games.

Both Moore and Splett also were first-team all-Summit League selections for their play on the diamond during the 2014 season.

SDSU, coached by Dave Schrage, finished the 2014 season with a 28-29 overall record, including an 11-11 mark in Summit League play.
